# Understand Your PnL

> See exactly where your profits come from with real-time tracking

Most platforms show you paper gains. MetEngine shows you real PnL, including impermanent loss that others hide.

## What You'll Unlock

* Real-time impermanent loss calculation
* True profit visibility (not just paper gains)
* The data you need to make exit decisions

## Real-Time PnL Tracking

MetEngine calculates your impermanent loss in real-time, so you always know your true profit. Not just what the raw numbers suggest.

**What you just saw:** Live PnL that accounts for everything: fees earned, impermanent loss, and true net profit.

## Understanding Your Numbers

### Fees Earned

The trading fees you've collected from swaps through your liquidity range. This is pure profit (before considering IL).

### Impermanent Loss (IL)

The difference between holding your assets vs. providing liquidity. MetEngine calculates this in real-time.

**When IL matters:**

* If fees > IL, you're profitable
* If IL > fees, you're losing money (even if it looks like gains)

### True PnL

Your actual profit or loss: **Fees Earned - Impermanent Loss**

This is the number that matters. Everything else is noise.

## Making Exit Decisions

Use your PnL data to make informed exit decisions:

**Keep position open when:**

* Fees consistently exceed IL
* Volume through the pool remains high
* Price stays within your range

**Consider closing when:**

* IL exceeds fees over multiple periods
* Volume drops significantly
* Price moves far from your range
